last friday i went to ubatuba, a small town at the seaside in sao paulo state, to receive a silver medal in the VII salão nacional de belas artes (a national fine-arts competition). it's been two years since i last saw the ocean. my dream, or rather, one of my many contradictory dreams, is to live by the sea...
